ISLAMABAD — Meteorological authorities have predicted a fresh spell of rain-wind and thunderstorms, accompanied by isolated hailstorms, across various upper and central parts of the country. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave affecting the region is expected to bring a noticeable shift in weather patterns, offering relief from dry conditions while introducing cooler temperatures to northern and upper districts.

The latest advisory indicates that partly cloudy to overcast conditions will prevail over upper elevations. Regions braced for the wet spell include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and parts of upper and central Punjab. Authorities have noted that isolated pockets in upper districts may experience heavy downpours and sudden gusty winds, potentially causing localized drops in daytime temperatures.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Kohat are expected to receive intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms. Meteorological forecasters have warned that hilly terrain and upper catchments could witness isolated hailstorms, urging local travelers and motorists to exercise caution while navigating mountain passes and slick roadways.

Meanwhile, parts of Punjab—including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Faisalabad, and surrounding areas—are expected to experience partly cloudy skies paired with isolated rain-wind activity during the afternoon and evening hours. Cities further south, such as Multan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, may witness breezy conditions and isolated spells, providing a welcome break from lingering dry warmth.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, and its twin city Rawalpindi, conditions are projected to remain partly cloudy with intermittent chances of windstorms and rain. Humidity levels are expected to rise following the precipitation, ushering in pleasant evening conditions.

Disaster management authorities and local administrations have been put on alert to manage any potential disruptions caused by strong wind gusts or heavy downpours in vulnerable sectors. Farmers and agricultural stakeholders have also been advised to factor the weather shift into their harvesting and field management schedules. Forecasters expect the current weather system to persist over the upper regions for the next couple of days before gradually dissipating toward the weekend.
